The house we almost bought

So it was September 2014 and Juhi and I had been looking at houses for a few months. We had spent the summer getting our Waldo home ready to sell. Painting, new siding, dejunking, cleaning, yard work, etc. We were looking to move over into PV or Old Leawood.

We had seen several houses but they were all priced much higher than what we wanted to spend and none of them had the major features that we really wanted in a home...until we found the one on 93rd St. I had seen it FSBO driving through the neighborhood several times. I finally decided to go look at it when they had an open house. The house was amazing. Almost everything we wanted. Large great room with huge windows and a great kitchen. Three large bedrooms on the main level with great bathrooms. A huge garage which I loved and wanted to use for my garage gym :) The price was $485,000. Way out of our range so I didn't bother doing anything more but told the homeowner that if they couldn't sell or got an offer to let me know.

Fast forward a few more days and I had Juhi come look at the house with me. I told her this is the best thing I've found and has almost everything you want in a home! So we went together and she loved it. So many things the owners had done were the same things Juhi and I would have done to our home. I told the wife we really like the house and asked if she had room to work on the price if we can without our agent to purchase. She said maybe $460,000 would be the lowest.

Then 2 days later she called me around 8:30 in the morning. She left a message and said they had an offer on the home and wanted to know if we were still interested. I needed to call her back by 9:00 because that is when they had to accept the other offer. I called her back as soon as I got the message but it was 9:10 am. She said they had taken the other offer. I asked what it was and she said $450,000.
